Murray and Ida Rotman have been associated with the furniture and carpet business since 1950's. They owned the furniture and carpet concessions in former C.T. shares and later, the Barnards Department Store in downtown Worcester. In 1964, Murray and Ida started Rotmans at its present location at College Square. They began by leasing 10,0000 square feet in the former Whittall Carpet Mill. Soon they were joined by their son Steve. Later, Murray and Ida's other two son's also joined the firm, Barry in 1966 and Bernie in 1980. Throughout the years, rotmams expanded into additional parts of former mill complex to reach 60,000 square feet of showroom. Rotmams experienced a dramatic growth in the 80's, wich made the store know as one of the largest single store operation of its kind in the country. Below you can see some of our merchandise. 1) From the T
We are accessible by the T's Green Line. Take the D Line (Riverside) to the Brookline Village stop. Once off the train follow the small side street out to Route 9. Turn right on Route 9 and we are located one block up on the right.
2) From the West
Take Route 128 to exit 20, Route 9 east. We are located approximately 6 miles from Rt. 128 on the westbound side, just before the intersection of Route 9 (Boylston St.) and Harvard St.
3) From the North or South
Take Storrow Drive West to the Kenmore Square exit. After exiting, at the second set of lights make a right onto Commonwealth Ave. Once on Commonwealth Ave. travel 2 blocks; at the second set of lights bear left onto Brookline Ave. (This is the same road that Fenway Park is on). Follow Brookline Ave. one mile until it ends. At this intersection take a right onto Route 9 West. Once on Route 9 go through one set of lights and the store will be on the right. Here you will see just a preview of what you will find in our stores.
